2. 'I want you to send me the coat' is grammatically correct but in many situations it would be considered to be too direct. 'I would like you to ... ' is more pol ite.

3. Want is followed by v-ing when it is used with the meaning 'need': 'The grass wants cutting once a week.'

4. be about + to-v (NOT want) = be on the point of doing something
